Introduction



Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts exams for selection of Probationary officers / Management trainees , Specialist officers or clerks in various participating organizations like PSU Banks or financial institutions.

IBPS PO and other exams are having the same syllabus as SBI PO and other exams. The only difference is SBI gives the results in record time and the process is over within the month. More vacancies are there in IBPS and it covers more banks.


Logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude and english language are the three key sections. The time provided is less although the questions are easy and so practice is needed

Examination for Probationary Officers / Management Trainees



Probationary Officers selection is done by a three tier process:



  1. Online preliminary test: Conducted in month of October and results declared in November. The online application is from Mid-July to starting week of August.
  2. Online mains examination: Those who clear the prelims. Conducted in last week of November. Result is declared in December.
  3. Common interview: Those who clear the mains exam. Interviews are held in January / February.

Provisional allotment is made to the candidates.

Cut-Off scores



Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Main examination and also a minimum total score to be considered to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cut-offs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview. Prior to the completion of the interview process, scores obtained in the online Main examination will not be shared with the candidates shortlisted for interview.



Examination for Specialist Officers



Specialist Officers selection is done by a two tier process:



  1. Online recruitment test: Conducted in month of January and results declared in February. The online application is from Mid-November to starting week of December.
  2. Common mains: Those who clear the recruitment exam. Interviews are held in March and results are declared in April.

Provisional allotment is made to the candidates.

  1. Mean – 3/4th of Standard Deviation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD categories
  2. Mean – 1/4th of Standard Deviation for General Category
  3. There will be a second level cutoff point on total as per requirement
  4. Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score, as explained above, to be considered to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cutoffs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview. Examination for Clerical Staff



Clerical Staff selection is done by a two tier process:



  1. Online recruitment test: Conducted in month of November / December and results declared in December. The online application is from Mid-August to starting week of September.
  2. Common main examination: Those who clear the recruitment exam. Mains are held in December and results are declared in April. No interviews are conducted. Only marks of mains shall be considered for selection.

Provisional allotment is made to the candidates.


Educational Qualifications:




A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online. Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e. candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute. Proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT (candidates should know how to read/ write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT) for which vacancies a candidate wishes to apply is preferable. Ex-Servicemen who do not possess the above civil examination qualifications should be matriculate Ex Servicemen who have obtained the Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after having completed not less than 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union as on 12.09.2016. Such certificates should be dated on or before 12.09.2016.
