University Grants Commission conducts the National Eligibility test for Junior research fellowship [ J.R.F. ] and Assistant Professor [ A.P. ] post. Candidates while filling the form have to indicate their preference for the position [ J.R.F. / A.P. / both ]


The exam is conducted twice a year in June/July and December/January.


The NET exam is conducted in 84 subjects and Engineering graduation or post graduation isn't included in this.

Junior research Fellowship


A candidate selected as JRF can be accepted by Institutions to work as a research candidate. He is also eligible to become a Assistant Professor. UGC fellowship is provided to JRF's if they find placement in any institution. The validity of JRF Award is 2 years within declaration of result.


CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY:


  • Candidates should have a Masters degree with 55% marks.
  • Candidates in final year of Masters are also eligible.
  • PhD degree holders get 5% relaxation in marks in Masters i.e 50%.
  • Candidates should appear in area in which they have a post graduate degree only.
  • 28 years age is maximum limit with 5 years relaxation for special categories.


Assistant Professor


  • No age limit is there for this post.
