• Shri Prabhakar Singh ,Director General, Central Public Works Department has been chosen for the ‘Eminent Engineer Award for the Year 2019’ by the Institution of Engineers (India) for his distinguished and exemplary Service in the field of Engineering and Technology.


  • This Elite and Prestigious Award shall be conferred to him on the ‘Engineers Day’ on September 15, 2019 in New Delhi.

  • The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) is an autonomous organization funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. CDFD receives funding also from other agencies on specific collaborative projects.


  • In addition, DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics services provided by the centre support some of the activities. The Centre is recognized by the University of Hyderabad for pursuing Ph.D. programme in Life Sciences. The centre is equipped with world class state-of-the-art instrumentation and computing infrastructure to facilitate working in frontier areas of research in Life Sciences. There are presently nineteen groups working on diverse research areas and the centre continues to attract leaders in related disciplines. CDFD is supported with a strong Bioinformatics facility.


  • CDFD is located in the fastest growing metropolitan city of Hyderabad, more popularly known as Cyberabad for its initiative and pioneering role in developing the state during the past few years in the area of information technology. Hyderabad enjoys the best weather of all seasons. CDFD provides a congenial work atmosphere.






  • Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is the premier R&D organization of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for carrying out R&D in IT, Electronics and associated areas. Different areas of C-DAC, had originated at different times, many of which came out as a result of identification of opportunities.


  • The setting up of C-DAC in 1988 itself was to built Supercomputers in context of denial of import of Supercomputers by USA. Since then C-DAC has been undertaking building of multiple generations of Supercomputer starting from PARAM with 1 GF in 1988.


  • Almost at the same time, C-DAC started building Indian Language Computing Solutions with setting up of GIST group (Graphics and Intelligence based Script Technology); National Centre for Software Technology (NCST) set up in 1985 had also initiated work in Indian Language Computing around the same period.


  • Electronic Research and Development Centre of India (ER&DCI) with various constituents starting as adjunct entities of various State Electronic Corporations, had been brought under the hold of Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (now MeitY) in around 1988. They were focusing on various aspects of applied electronics, technology and applications.


  • With the passage of time as a result of creative ecosystem that got set up in C-DAC, more areas such as Health Informatics, etc., got created; while right from the beginning the focus of NCST was on Software Technologies; similarly C-DAC started its education & training activities in 1994 as a spin-off with the passage of time, it grew to a large efforts to meet the growing needs of Indian Industry for finishing schools.


  • C-DAC has today emerged as a premier R&D organization in IT&E (Information Technologies and Electronics) in the country working on strengthening national technological capabilities in the context of global developments in the field and responding to change in the market need in selected foundation areas.


  • In that process, C-DAC represents a unique facet working in close junction with MeitY to realize nation’s policy and pragmatic interventions and initiatives in Information Technology.


  • As an institution for high-end Research and Development (R&D), C-DAC has been at the forefront of the Information Technology (IT) revolution, constantly building capacities in emerging/enabling technologies and innovating and leveraging its expertise, caliber, skill sets to develop and deploy IT products and solutions for different sectors of the economy, as per the mandate of its parent, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and other stakeholders including funding agencies, collaborators, users and the market-place.






  • ERNET India is the National Research and Education Network dedicated to support the needs of the research and education community within the country. It was established in 1998 as an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. It operates ERNET network – a pan-Indian terrestrial and satellite network with 5 points of presence at premier research and academic institutions.


  • In tune with the mandate ERNET is providing four types of services, namely, Access Services, Application Services, Hosting Services and Operations Support Services to all Educational and Research Community of India. ERNET provides access to its network through various connectivity options. Application services include E-mail hosting, domain registration, MPLS VPN. It also provides Web Services having state of art of Data Centre. Other services include IT Consultancy and Project Management services for establishment of IT infrastructure & converged Network Projects






  • The Objectives of the Samiti To plan and carry out activities for the promotion of Gandhian ideals and philosophy. To keep Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti open for public as per standard rules related to the museum and maintain it to provide maximum convenience to visitors.


  • Promote Audience Development and Museum Management Framework in both Gandhi Smriti Museum and Gandhi Darshan Exhibition.


  • Promote initiatives to create awareness on the life and message of Mahatma Gandhi through educational media like an exhibition, films, Gandhiana, posters, and different forms of Art, Culture and Technology. To develop and preserve a library of books including rare books, literature, photographs, films and documents etc.


  • To collect, preserve and exhibit important relics of Mahatma Gandhi. Promotion of volunteerism for Gandhian work and betterment of the society. Focus on empowering the marginalized through different activities related to philosophy and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.


  • Developing capacities of children, youth, women and other groups for imbibing Gandhian values and work to bring attitudinal changes/development through practical applications of Gandhian philosophy.


  • To restore, protect and manage both the complexes at Gandhi Darshan and Gandhi Smriti and all movable and immovable properties therein according to requirement.


  • To bring publication for various sections of people to enhance their knowledge about Mahatma Gandhi and the values he propagated. To conduct inter-disciplinary research on Gandhian philosophy in the context of contemporary issues.


  • Encourage and promote Gandhian perspectives on education and facilitate education for peace, ecological security, equality and justice. To work extensively with different Universities and Academic Institutions for better and in-depth understanding of Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhian philosophy. Empowerment of the weaker sections of the society through vocational training programmes and other livelihood initiatives as part of Gandhian constructive work.


  • Respond and work to address challenging problems of the society. Involving different stakeholders to work for a culture of collective living, collective working, peace and nonviolence. Reaching the unreached with the life and message of Mahatma Gandhi especially in far-flung areas.


  • To undertake such other activities and to do all the foregoing mandate and to cooperate and seek cooperation from other institutions for the aforesaid purposes.
