Introduction

National Flag:

The ratio of length to the width of the flag is 3:2. the design of the Flag was adopted on July 1947.

National Anthem

It was written by Rabindranath Tagore and sung in the Kolkata session of congress in 1911. The first stanza of the song in its hindi version was adopted as National Anthem on 24 January 1950.

National Emblem:

The Sarnath lion capital of Emperor Ashok inspired the design of National Emblem. It was adopted on 26 January 1950. The word Satyameva Jayate from Mundaka Upanishad are written on it.

National Song

Vande Mataram was written in sanskrit by Bankimchandra Chatterjee and first sung in 1896 during the congress session.

National Calender

The Saka era calendar was adopted on 1957 with first month Chaitya falling on 22 March or on 21 March during leap years.
