  • The National Institute of Applied Sciences Center Val de Loire (INSA CVL) ( http://www.insa-centrevaldeloire.fr/ ) is recruiting from January 3, 2022 a contractual teacher-researcher (ECC) of a level assimilated to a university professor, on the Blois campus.

  • A summary profile is given here. The complete profile is accessible at https://www.insa-centrevaldeloire.fr/sites/default/files/documents/emplois/ecc_lifat.pdf

  • ============ Education ============

  • The candidate will have to participate in generalist type courses in computer science which are varied within INSA, on the Blois campus. The candidate will be likely to intervene in the following areas:

  • - Algorithms and programming in C language

  • - Object oriented programming (C ++)

  • - Data base

  • as well as in various computer courses of the ACAD option (Acquisition, Analysis and Decision) in 5th year (learning, image processing, analysis of production systems, ...).

  • Contacts for teaching: Michaël CALIEZ, [email protected]

  • Roger SERRA, [email protected]

  • Jérôme FORTINEAU, [email protected]

  • ========= Research ========= The candidate will join the Laboratory of Fundamental and Applied Informatics of Tours (LIFAT -EA 6300). Research carried out at LIFAT covers several scientific fields such as image and video analysis, machine learning, data mining, natural language processing or combinatorial optimization. The unit is divided into three teams:

  • - Databases and natural language processing (BDTLN)

  • - Operational research, scheduling and transport (ROOT - ERL CNRS 7002)

  • - Pattern recognition and image analysis (RFAI).

  • The priority objective of recruiting an ECC is to strengthen the capacities of supervision, structuring and animation of research on the themes already present within the RFAI team (Recognition of Forms and Image Analysis) of INSA-CVL. This team articulates its research around 4 main axes: image and video processing and analysis, statistical learning, graph-based pattern recognition. ECC activities can also be integrated into other LIFAT themes already present at INSA-CVL. The candidate must have an excellent scientific record and demonstrate his / her ability to lead and federate research, to set up collaborations and ambitious research projects at national and international level.

  • Alternatively and on the basis of the quality of the candidate's profile, integration would be possible in the ROOT team (ERL CNRS 7002). The candidate should then have shown his / her mastery in managing projects related to Operational Research and its fields (models, complexity, approximation, exact methods, approximate methods, ...). Its recruitment should make it possible to reinforce the development of work on the theory of scheduling, or / and on the optimization of transport systems, and / or dynamic systems with discrete events.

  • Possibly, integration into the BDTLN team would also be possible. Needs have been identified in particular on the joint contribution of learning and data mining more particularly dedicated to complex data such as graphs, trajectories, sequences and with possible applications to the semantic web and Linked Open Data. .

  • National candidates are expected to hold the authorization to supervise research.

  • Duration: CDD of one year before renewal in CDI.

  • Hubert CARDOT, [email protected]

  • Khaled CHETEHOUNA, [email protected]

  • =================================================== =========== French "National Institute of Applied Sciences Center Val de Loire (INSA CVL)" ( http://www.insa-centrevaldeloire.fr/ ) proposes a full professor-equivalent position, in Blois campus, starting in January 2022. A summary of the job offer is given here. For the detailed offer, see https://www.insa-centrevaldeloire.fr/sites/default/files/documents/emplois/ecc_lifat.pdf

  • ======== Teaching ======== The candidate should participate in teaching general computer science on the Blois campus. He or she is expected to be involved in the following courses:

  • - Algorithms and programming in C language

  • - Object-oriented programming (C ++)

  • - Databases

  • as well as various specific computer science courses in 5th year (machine learning, image processing, computer vision, production management, analysis of production systems). International candidates should have a very good level in French.

  • Teaching contacts: Michaël CALIEZ, [email protected]

  • Roger SERRA, [email protected]

  • Jérôme FORTINEAU, [email protected]

  • ======== Research ======== The candidate will join the computer science lab of Tours, which conducts research in various domains such as image / video analysis, machine learning, data mining, language processing, combinatorial optimization. The lab is actually organized in three research groups:

  • - DataBases and Natural Language Processing (french acronym: BDTLN)

  • - Operations Research, Scheduling, and Transportation (french acronym: ROOT)

  • - Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (french acronym: RFAI)

  • The current recruitment is primarily targetted towards the reinforcement and leading of scientific activities already established in the Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis team present at INSA-CVL, which focuses on 4 main themes: image / video analysis, machine learning, graph-based pattern recognition . The candidate should have solid international publications, abilities in leading research and setting national and international research projects.

  • Based on the quality of the profile, the candidate could also integrate the ROOT team. In such case, it is expected that the candidate should have skills in managing projects in operational research. The recruitment will then reinforce work on scheduling, transport system optimization, or discrete dynamic event systems. Finally, integrating the BDTLN team could be an option. Interesting scientific challenges in making data mining and machine learning work together have been identified, that can be applied to complex data such as graphs, trajectories, and sequences that can be applied to semantical web or linked open data.

  • International candidates should have, if in use in their country, the highest university degree, accredidating them to supervise research.

  • The position will be a fixed-term contract for one year, then transformed into a permanent contract.
